LOCATION

The Northwest Clerks Institute is held at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. 

The University of Puget Sound is located at 1500 North Warner in Tacoma, Washington, approximately 30 miles south of Seattle and 15 miles north of Olympia.

Driving from the north:

Take exit 133, Interstate 705 north, City Center exit. Exit at Schuster Parkway. Continue for approximately one mile, and stay to the left. Exit to the left (Schuster Parkway), and follow Schuster down along the water. Stay to the right and proceed approximately 1.5 miles. Exit right onto North 30th. Continue through the traffic signal in Old Town and up the hill.

At the top of the hill, turn left at North Alder. Continue approximately one mile to North 15th. Turn right and proceed into campus. Go through the first stop sign and enter the parking circle reserved for our guests. You may park in the parking circle in front of Jones Hall, or in the lot just south of Wheelock Student Center.

Driving from the South:

Take Exit 132, Gig Harbor/Bremerton Highway 16. Exit at Union Avenue and turn right at the light. Travel north about two miles until you see the campus on your right. Continue to North 18th Street and turn right. Turn right on North Lawrence Street (at the end of the street). Go to the stop sign and turn right into the Jones parking circle reserved for our guests. You may park in the parking circle in front of Jones Hall, or in the lot just south of Wheelock Student Center.

Train:

The Amtrak station is located at 1001 Puyallup Avenue in Tacoma. Take a taxi or board one of the following buses: No. 41, 400, or 500. Request a transfer ticket from the bus driver and leave the bus at the corner of 10th and Commerce. Wait for the U.P.S. bus (No. 16) which stops at the corner of North 15th and Alder, one block east of Wheelock Student Center. Taxi service from the train station costs approximately $11.00.

Bus:

The Greyhound station is located at 510 Puyallup Avenue in Tacoma. Take a taxi or board the U.P.S. bus (No. 11) at Puyallup Avenue and East F Street, one block east of the Greyhound Bus Station. The bus stops at the corner of North 21st and Alder, six blocks north of Wheelock Student Center. Taxi service from the Greyhound Bus Station to the campus costs approximately $10-$15.

Plane:

There are a number of Shuttle services which can drop you off at Puget Sound from Sea-Tac Airport. Capital Aeroporter 253-927-6179 (Tacoma) or 206-838-7431 (from the airport) or 800-962-3579 (outside Western Washington).

The Capital Aeroporter shuttle departs from Sea-Tac and takes you to the Sheraton Tacoma Hotel or directly to campus. From the baggage claim level, take escalator up one level. Take the sky-bridge across to the parking garage and take the escalator or elevator (located left of the ticket machines) down one level (3rd level). Make a U-turn to the right. Check in at Capital Aeroporter Counter personnel or read counter sign. All departures load from Island #2. The cost of the Aeroporter is $20.00 to the Sheraton ($39.00 round trip) or $25.00 to campus ($45 round trip). Students with I.D. and groups of two or more receive a discount. Reservations are recommended. Taxi service from the Sheraton to campus costs approximately $8.00.

Shuttle Express 425-981-7000 or 800-487-7433 (within Washington). Shuttle Express is a 24-hour door-to-door service. To find the Shuttle Express in Sea-Tac Airport, after you obtain your bags on the baggage claim level, follow the signs to the parking garage, up one floor and across the sky bridge. Then ride the escalator or elevator down one level to the 3rd floor in the parking garage. A Shuttle Express coordinator will be waiting to greet you in the center of the parking garage - in front of row H wearing a red coat with Shuttle Express on both front and back. The cost of Shuttle Express from Sea-Tac to campus is $29.00, and groups of two or more receive a discount. Advance reservations are required for your return trip to the airport.
